Part of how we sharpen our own positioning is looking honestly at what other small marketing agencies actually offer — not to copy them, but to see where the real gaps are. This month we went deeper than usual: a proper side-by-side look at several agencies that describe themselves as "data-driven" or list "reporting" and "analytics dashboards" as a service.
Every one of them mentioned it. Not one of them showed it. The word "dashboard" appeared in service lists, in case study copy, in testimonials about "great reporting" — always described, never demonstrated. As a prospective client, you're asked to take the word "data-driven" on faith.
That's a strange gap, because a dashboard is one of the easiest things to actually prove. It's not a strategy document you'd have to anonymize or a client secret you'd have to protect — a live, clickable panel with realistic numbers costs nothing to show publicly, and it answers the only question that matters: can they actually build the thing they're selling?
Three questions worth asking any agency that says "we're data-driven" before you sign anything:
This is the exact gap we built Casa Lumen's dashboard to close — one panel, all locations, real charts you can click through yourself, not a screenshot.
